Buying a Home in Mira Mesa

Mira Mesa really became a well-rounded community in the 1990s when it underwent extensive expansion to accommodate the thousands of new residents. People from all over the county and the world flocked to the area due to its proximity to major employers like UC San Diego, MCAS Miramar, Qualcomm, and dozens of biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

The Mira Mesa community is roughly bounded by Interstate 15 to the east with Scripps Ranch, Camino Santa Fe to the west, the Los Peñasquitos Canyon to the north and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar to the south. Compared to the rest of San Diego County, Mira Mesa has very low crime rates, which makes it a very attractive place to live. The median sales prices is around $600,000 with about 67% homeowners.

Living in Mira Mesa

San Diego’s largest community is also very culturally diverse. Mira Mesa has a significant concentration of Asian-American as well as residents from many other cultures. The ethnic diversity of the locals adds vibrancy to the shopping and dining experiences of the community.

The Mira Mesa Market center’s outdoor patio is a great place to relax after work and you can expect to find some authentic gems all over town for whatever type of cuisine you fancy, whether that’s Filipino, Indian, Mexican and/or Vietnamese. If you’re into craft beer, the southern rim is nicknamed “Beeramar Road,” with some of the best breweries in town and plentiful food trucks to keep you satiated.
