Translating to “little cliffs” in Spanish, Rancho Penasquitos is a mountain community with its highest peak reaching just over 1,500 feet higher than the surrounding areas. Rancho Penasquitos is home to about 60,000 residents that vary in age. Although the community covers a large, 10,000 acres in the northeast corner of San Diego, most of the area is filled with homes and residential amenities. Homes in Rancho Penasquitos are very affordable and can easily be found for under the $1 million price tag.
Several parks and recreation centers are spread out over the community to satisfy the needs of both children and adults. Rancho Penasquitos offers a wide range of sports and club teams for children to take part in. The Rancho Penasquitos Little League was one of the largest in the nation at one point. The schools in this area are some of the best in the entire San Diego School District. The community provides schools for kids of all ages, and the teachers cater the teaching to meet the needs of every student. Each year in the beginning of May, Rancho Penasquitos hosts a 5K run followed by a street fair and parade. This event is a great time to see the entire community come together! Rancho Penasquitos is a great place to be if you’re looking for a home in San Diego, but don’t necessarily want the big city life.
