Trader Joe’s Recall

MONROVIA, CA — Trader Joe’s has voluntarily recalled a batch of Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream because of the potential presence of small metal pieces in the product, the company announced Saturday.

The affected ice cream was sold in 1-quart containers with the SKU# 055740. The company said no injuries have been reported to date.

All affected ice cream has been pulled off shelves and destroyed, Trader Joe’s said, though the company did not disclose how many stores were affected by this. The grocery store chain, which is based in Monrovia, California, has 464 stores nationwide, including several locations within the city of San Diego, as well as another nine stores in the cities and communities of Carlsbad, Carmel Valley, Chula Vista, Encinitas, Escondido, La Jolla, La Mesa, Mission Valley and Oceanside.

Customers who bought the ice cream were urged to discard or return it to stores for a refund. Customers may also contact the company at 626-599-3817 for questions or concerns.
