05 Dec Da Mole Report – Dec. 4, 2019
Hey Boss,
What a week it’s been already! Thanksgiving and the Black Friday rush has come and gone and we are in full-fledge holiday season mode. We hope everyone had a lovely holiday break! I know Guido and I are still stuffed from our feast.
BLUFF COLLAPSE IN DEL MAR
We got word from North County transportation officials that there was a bluff collapse off a cliff near a Seagrove Park in Del Mar. Due to the heavy amounts of rain we got last week, the collapse happened on Friday just feet from the railroad tracks. This caused travel interruptions throughout the weekend for passenger trains going from Los Angeles to San Diego. It seems that officials will be reevaluating and developing long-term plans to stabilize or relocate the tracks. For now, it’s best to be extra cautious as more rain and storms are showing up in our area!
POWAY SCHOOL DISTRICT SENDS ADVISORY
So, what’s new for December? For starters, the Poway Unified School District (PUSD) sent out a message to parents about the “Boil Water Advisory.” The district informed families that the water may have been compromised after the many rainstorms and they are taking precautionary action. They suggested the use of boiled water or bottled water before consuming or cooking with the water. Make sure to keep an ear out for when this is lifted. To see a full list of schools that may have been affected or for more information, visit the website here.
WINTER IS HERE
Popular areas like Julien, Mt. Laguna, and Alpine are already covered in snow! Visitor count picked up over the weekend by those looking to enjoy the snow. If you’re headed to the mountains this winter season, you’re in luck. Places like Big Bear, Snow Mountain, Mammouth, are ready for skiers and snowboarders of all levels!
DECEMBER BLOOD DRIVE SAN DIEGO COUNTY:
I also got word that there will be a county-wide blood drive happening all next month. Starting this weekend, you and your family can help by donating much-needed blood this holiday season. Red Cross will even give a $5 Amazon Gift Card to those who donate before Dec 18th. Not a bad deal for a good deed! Find dates and locations for a neighborhood nearby – like Poway, Escondido – here. Go to Redcross.com for more information
So much is happening this month! It’s a great time to be in San Diego. If there are any community or local events you’d like to share, please reach out! And FYI – Guido and I make great party guests 🙂
Talk soon!
